A dental implant is a long-term solution for missing teeth, placed into the jawbone to replace the tooth root. It looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth and can be cared for the same way.
Implants don’t affect nearby teeth and help preserve bone for better long-term appearance. Unlike bridges, they aren’t at risk of decay from failing cement, as they integrate with the bone. Strong and durable, implants let you eat normally. Treatment can also be carried out with sedation for added comfort.

This procedure is usually carried out over several appointments rather than in a single visit, and the overall timeline can vary from patient to patient. At each stage of the treatment, we will allow sufficient healing time before progressing to the next step. This is particularly important after the implant placement and during the restoration phase, as it ensures the implant integrates properly with the bone and the surrounding tissues stabilise. Healing times can differ depending on individual factors such as overall health, healing capacity, and the complexity of the case.
In most cases, we expect the full process to take between three to six months to complete. However, this is a general guideline, and some patients may require more or less time depending on their specific circumstances. If additional procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts are needed to create a stable foundation for the implant, we will factor in extra healing time, which can extend the overall treatment duration.

Have a question about your dental treatment? We've answered the most common questions below.
Your suitability for dental implants will depend on a number of factors. During your initial consultation, your dentist will ask questions about your lifestyle to determine if you are suitable. Your dentist will also consult Xrays and scans of your jaw bone to determine if you can have dental implants.
This all depends on how well you care for your dental implants. The implant can last a lifetime if you maintain it with brushing, flossing and regular trips to the dentist. The crown portion of the restoration may need to be replaced after 10-15 years, but with good oral hygiene, this could also be extended beyond 15 years.
Dental implants vary in price depending on the complexity of the procedure. Our dental implants start at £2500 for a single implant which is £500 lower than Highgate average implant prices.
This will depend on the placement in your mouth. An implant can replace a single missing tooth or two implants can be used to support a bridge for up to 6 adjacent teeth. If you are replacing your dentures, you will need 4 implants for each arch.
